Italian Word Lists
Over the years our engineers and linguists have collected precious experience and data on a variety of Italian writing styles.
As several third-party attempts in the 1990s and 2000s illustrated, a single corpus is not always a good reference for all contexts. For example, using books or newspaper sources with a majority of third person or past tense constructs can make the resulting data unsuitable for use in text messaging prediction, where too many third person past tense forms might prevail over other verb forms (having similar vowels, but different accents). This is a common problem with some popular text messaging input systems applied to Italian, where either the number-to-letter conversion does not resolve to the best word, or the predicted words are not listed in an optimal order. Another problem is the inclusion of incorrect or very rare accented forms in the corpus, which may then "compete" with popular words having different signs.
